The witnesses were asked, in turn, what exactly it was that they saw. Each, covering their eyes once more, pronounced "Nothing but the inside of my own hands".
The "guilty" verdict was delivered unanimously and without contest. The sentence was to hold their guilt in their hands, even while still holding them over their faces, and that it would grow heavier and darker every year.
It was a life-sentence.

*This artist does not use Instagram for his solo projects. He has no interest in benefiting yet another U.S. corporation which makes almost no positive or financial contribution to anywhere else in the world, yet makes millions from our increased tribalism and narcissism, our decreased empathy and our expensive attention - and of course our personal data. It's even worse now that they use our (free) content to develop so-called "A.I.", which - although mostly a ridiculous hype bubble - nevertheless is based on the theft of the labour of artists (and others), and all evidence so far shows is still being used to help bring about the worst of all possible dystopian futures. And, as we are seeing, presents.I don't judge anyone, I know it's inconvenient... believe me. But I also now clearly see that these corporations run the world by selling a fake convenience to us, with the promise always of making our lives easier, quicker, cheaper. But do you remember when "email" was promising to give us back all the time we spent writing letters? And now you have emails piling up as you read this, and will be hunched over a keyboard. So maybe this is actually better seen as just a joining together of contrivance and connivance in a conspiratorial destruction of (our) innocence. If we want a revolution, or at least something - anything - better than this, some of us have to start writing and living a different, more inconvenient but much more rewarding script. When the slope is this slippery, and ahead are the open gates of Hades, then indeed perhaps some friction is exactly what we need.If you would like to support this art, in the real sense of the word, and ensure it continues to be able to exist in the world without compromise, it won't be from likes which help an algorithm to finesse its understanding of you. This new book came into being by request, and was thus lovingly crafted not as a commercial release, but as a 'thank you' gift back for those who lent fuel to the fire of its creation with their love and support.Collecting together works performed from the last three years, it captures the time in specially (and pain-stakingly!) hand-written renditions. Anté's artwork and concept was then faithfully captured by wonderful designer José Rojas with a magnifcent attention to detail and effect, and then sent for bounding into a beautiful artifact.The book is a special limited-edition, limited-run print which is (only) available directly. There are no plans for a reprint.
WHO IS 'THE ANTÉ DOTE'?

THE 'SPOKEN WORD ARTIST'
A 'Spoken Word Artist'. That is: an artist who speaks words, 'artistically': incantations, incarnations, musings, daydreams, wanderings, sabbaticals and resurrections. Some of them ongoing.A spoken word artist. What is that?Often asked..."It's like stand-up comedy. But without the comedy. And I don't usually stand up.""Ahh, so you're a poet?""Hmm maybe, sort of, we're related... or, at least that's how I'm most commonly mis-gendered..."Anté prefers to think of himself as a story-teller, with the only requirement being that the stories must always be true (regardless of whether they happened or not), beautiful (at least in the eye of the beholding story-teller) and open to interpretation (at least in the mind of the receiving listener). Anything else, including grammar, spelling, language or 'meaning', is permitted to roam and wander without bounds or limits.Also, since Anté is finding it increasingly weird and disorientating describing himself in the third person, let's reference something from Bucht der Traumer's Festival programme (2025):

* the tongue is not always fast
* the punchlines do not always sting (sometimes they hug)
and
* your silence can indeed be neutral. When you're dead.
THE 'MUSICIAN'
note: Strictly speaking, "The Anté Dote" (now) usually refers only to Anté's artist pseudonym as a 'spoken-word' and experimental music artist since the mid 10s. So this musical bio is actually about Anté in a broader sense as well...
After his best friend marched him into a music store, telling him 'people will listen to your words if you play at least two chords as well' (which turned out to be overly optimistic) - and playing him punk and alternative rock records that blew his adolescent mind - Anté, who had previously thought of 'musicians' as an arrogant and elusive class, bought his first acoustic guitar with all the money he had left in the world...After some experiments in school, Anté (née 'Bass') started his first proper band at uni - a punk rock band he knowingly and self-deprecatingly named Suck!. Eventually - through various evolutionary and serendipitous events - this evolved years eventually into London's underground Djevara, which became his major project over most of his adult life since. As a frontman, guitar and bass guitar player, the band relentlessly toured the European underground scene, ran a small record label (Genin Records), helped organise gigs across London, a festival and operate an autonomous warehouse space in North London, The Low Fidelity Disconnect. Across over a decade the band released several albums including debut God Is White and acclaimed albums Third World War and latest Punk Is Not A Sound / VIVA!. Rumours also abound that Bass also stepped in for his errant twin-brother for both EPs by The Sour Grape Project.When the band (Djevara) went into an extended hibernation, at first lost, Anté used the new 'freedom' to enter a new more exploratory period: stripped-down unplugged sets (mainly through the Djevara (Redux) vehicle, experimentation with electronica for the first time (and [second time - Experiments In Atomic Punk]()), The Refuge - a live project inspired originally as an artistic exploration of manic depression, and eventually - missing just rocking the hell out - founding a new two-piece progressive hardcore duo The Union Black / Navajo... and lots of collaborations, experiments and other stuff even he can't remember anymore (until pleasantly - or not - surprised when cleaning up or searching for something else)...Newest musical solo project 'THE REMEDY' (live-debut 17.07.26 - it's fresh!) is the direct descendent of many of these projects crossing directly with his spoken word in a more direct, ambitious (and chaotic) manner than ever before. He has no idea where it leads, because the road is dark and unpaved and there are no maps, but is assured by the belief that even cliff edges can be exciting and gratifying for at least a (very short) while...
